Picture of the Day EN

This extension has a single, focused purpose: to transform the browser's new tab page into an educational and visually inspiring experience by displaying daily pictures from reputable sources (NASA, Wikipedia, and Bing) along with intelligently processed descriptions. The extension replaces the default new tab page with a beautiful picture display, fetches daily pictures from NASA APOD, Wikipedia POD, and Bing POD, displays AI-enhanced descriptions with simplified text and interactive Wikipedia links, and provides a distraction-free, full-screen viewing experience.

All supporting features serve this single purpose. Source selection allows users to choose their preferred picture source. The settings panel customizes the display including description visibility and dimensions overlay. Random selection provides variety while maintaining the core purpose. Caching improves performance and enables offline viewing. Responsive design ensures the picture displays correctly on all screen sizes.

The extension does not collect user data, track browsing behavior, display advertisements, modify web pages, inject content into websites, or communicate with third-party analytics services beyond Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics. All features directly support the single purpose of displaying educational daily pictures on the new tab page.
