Save the audio of YouTube videos as MP3 files with one click, with cover art, artist and title already filled in.

IMPORTANT: This add-on needs a small companion app for Windows, which does the actual download and conversion. Install it once:

Then restart Firefox. If the app is missing, the sidebar shows the same link.
If you are using horizontal/native tabs, you might need to add the extension to toolbar.

FEATURES
• Download from the sidebar, or right-click any video link and choose "Download as MP3"
• The URL and your download folder are filled in automatically
• High-quality MP3 (LAME V0) with square cover art and tags: artist, title, and album, year and track number when available
• Files are named after the video, without clutter like "(Official Video)", or use your own name
• Works with YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp and Mixcloud, and you can paste links from many other sites
• "Show in folder" and "Play" buttons after each download, and a notification when a right-click download finishes
• "Open in app" opens the same download form in its own window

ALWAYS UP TO DATE
The app updates itself and its download tool (yt-dlp) automatically, and repairs itself when something breaks. Every update is checked against published checksums. You install it once and never have to reinstall it.

INSTALLING THE APP
• Windows 10/11, 64-bit. It installs for your user only and needs no administrator rights.
• The installer isn't code-signed, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
• Upgrading from 1.x: run the new installer over the old version. From then on it updates itself.

PRIVACY
The add-on and the app collect no data. Nothing is sent anywhere except the download itself and update checks on GitHub.
