Workspaces

Workspaces is a Firefox extension for managing tabs by context. Create multiple workspaces, keep each set of tabs separate, and switch in one click without losing your place. Your workspaces and tabs can sync between your computers through Firefox Sync, and automatic backups keep them safe.

Workspace organization
Create, rename, delete, and reorder workspaces in the sidebar. Pick emoji or custom icons, use drag‑and‑drop ordering, see how many tabs each workspace holds, and manage everything inline.

Move tabs and stay focused
Move a single tab or multiple highlighted tabs to any workspace via the tab context menu. Use “All Tabs” mode when you want to reveal everything across workspaces.

Sync across your computers
Workspaces and their tabs sync automatically between Firefox desktop computers through Firefox's built‑in sync. No separate account, server, or sign‑up: just sign in to the same Mozilla account on each computer and keep Add‑ons enabled in Firefox Sync.
- Workspace names, icons, and order, plus every workspace's tabs – full addresses and duplicates included
- Tabs you open or close follow you, and closed tabs don't come back from another device
- Optionally sync the theme, interface language, sidebar options, and auto‑backup settings
- On a new device you choose once: use the synced copy, upload this device, or merge both – after that, sync runs on its own
- See every device in sync, disconnect one without deleting anything, and reconnect it later by turning sync back on
- A soft glow in a color you choose and a compact progress indicator show when sync opens or closes tabs

History logs and backups stay on each device. Synced data is compressed to fit Firefox's 100 KB add‑on sync limit; for very large sessions, use JSON export.

Automatic backups and restore
Schedule automatic backups of your workspaces and tabs – from every 5 minutes to once a week, or on startup – or create them manually at any time. Choose how many backups to keep and how much space they may use, and restore a previous session with a click. Export everything to a JSON file and import it with merge or replace options, or restore only workspaces without tabs, to move your setup between devices or keep an extra copy.

Bulk actions and utilities
Move all tabs from one workspace to another, close only the tabs of a workspace, or copy all workspace URLs to the clipboard.

History and undo
Every create, rename, move, and delete action is logged. Undo or redo from the history panel when you need to roll back.

Keyboard shortcuts and theme
Toggle the sidebar and switch to workspaces 1–9 with shortcuts. Light and dark themes are supported.

Technical details
- Built on Manifest V3
- Uses tab hide/show for workspace isolation
- Data is stored locally; when sync is on, it travels only through your own Firefox Sync (Mozilla account), which Firefox encrypts end‑to‑end
- No data collection, tracking, or analytics

Localization
The extension is fully translated into 19 languages, including:
English, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Belarusian, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Turkish, Ukrainian, Indonesian, Arabic, and Vietnamese.
