QR Region Scanner lets you read a QR code anywhere in your browser without a phone or a separate app.

Press the keyboard shortcut, or click the toolbar button and choose "Scan a region". Drag a rectangle
over the QR code and it decodes instantly:

• If the code is a web link, it opens in a new tab.
• Anything else (plain text, WiFi details, and so on) is copied to your clipboard and shown in a notification.

Key features:

• Works on normal web pages, and on pages other extensions cannot reach, such as Firefox's built-in PDF viewer and reader mode. There it screenshots the tab and you select the region on the image.
• Fast, private, and offline. Decoding happens on your device. No network requests, no data collected.
• Linux, Windows, and macOS, each with a default shortcut that avoids the keys Firefox already uses.
• Configurable shortcut. See it or change it in Settings, or switch it off from the toolbar menu to free the keys for something else.
• Follows your system light or dark theme, or force either one in Settings.
• Minimal permissions. It reads the current tab only when you trigger a scan.

Note: an extension can only see the current tab, so it cannot scan the browser's own interface, other
windows, or your desktop. A few privileged pages (about: pages, addons.mozilla.org) cannot be captured,
but they hold no QR codes anyway.

Uses the open-source jsQR library (MIT) for decoding.
