FoxMCP connects an MCP-compatible AI assistant to the Firefox you already use, with your own profile, logins, and containers. Nothing runs in a fresh, empty browser.
What your assistant can do (46 tools):
- Manage tabs, tab groups, windows, and containers
- Read page text and HTML, run scripts, upload local files
- Organize bookmarks and search history
- Capture screenshots and inspect network requests
- Work with several Firefox profiles at once
Setup takes two steps:
1. Install this extension.
2. Add the server to your AI client, for example:
claude mcp add foxmcp -- uvx foxmcp --stdio
The server runs on your machine and talks to the extension over localhost.
Privacy: a connected AI client can read your browser data and run scripts on pages. Connect only clients you trust, and consider a dedicated Firefox profile. An optional setting asks for your approval before any script runs on a page. The full threat model is in SECURITY.md in the repository.
