VidPickr — Quick Video Saver EN

VidPickr adds a single download button to every YouTube page. Click it, pick a quality, and the file streams from YouTube straight to your Downloads folder, no upload to a server, no queue, no transcoding, no signup.

Why this exists:
Most YouTube downloader extensions get pulled from extension stores within weeks. The ones that survive are usually disguised "video helpers" that quietly route your URLs through their own servers. VidPickr is the opposite: it does exactly what it says, and the actual download happens inside your browser. The video and audio bytes never touch our infrastructure.

What you get:
• Every quality YouTube serves — 360p up to 4K and 8K when the source has it.
• Audio-only saves as M4A (a direct copy of YouTube's source AAC, no re-encode and no quality loss) or 320 kbps MP3 if you specifically need it.
• Original bitrate. The bytes saved to your disk are the same bytes YouTube serves to a browser playing the video. No "1080p with 720p detail" tricks.
• Subtitle download (SRT, VTT, TXT) for any caption track on the video.
• Works on every YouTube page — regular videos, Shorts, music videos, live stream replays.
• Companion to vidpickr.com — same in-browser muxing engine, just packaged into a one-click button on the YouTube page itself.

Privacy:
The extension is under 200 KB and asks for two permissions: host access to youtube.com (so it can read the page and place a download button) and storage (so it remembers your default-quality preference). It does not request tab history, all_urls, clipboard access, or any cross-origin permissions. The full manifest.json is inside the package — open it before installing if you want to verify exactly what it does.
