Punycode URL Blocker has one purpose: blocking requests whose destination hostname contains a label beginning with "xn--". Its packaged static rules take effect while the extension is enabled, with no setup required.

It covers HTTP and HTTPS page navigation and network requests for resources such as frames, images, scripts, and stylesheets. It also blocks new ws and wss connection handshakes. Labels in subdomains and top-level domains are checked. Internationalized hostnames entered as Unicode are matched after the browser normalizes them to Punycode. The same text in a path, query, fragment, or username alone does not trigger a block.

Punycode is a legitimate technology for internationalized domain names. A domain using it is not necessarily dangerous. This extension blocks such domains regardless of safety, including legitimate sites. It does not assess website reputation, and there is no exception list or temporary permission.

The extension does not collect browsing URLs, save browsing history, retain block history, collect personal information, or send information to external servers. It has no tracking, advertising, telemetry, or external analytics. The browser evaluates the bundled declarative rules locally. There is no extension JavaScript that receives browsing URLs.

There are no settings, popups, or custom error pages. Blocked navigation uses the browser's standard error behavior. To stop blocking, disable or remove the extension through the browser's extension manager.

Coverage is limited to requests handled by the browser's declarative network request API. Protected internal traffic, responses generated by a Service Worker, and responses served from Service Worker CacheStorage may fall outside that coverage. Existing connections are not terminated retroactively. This is a hostname-format blocker, not comprehensive phishing or malware protection.
