NYU Library Proxy EN

NYU Library Proxy is a convenience tool for New York University students, faculty, and staff who already have authorized NYU Library access.

When you are viewing a publisher website or database, clicking the extension icon rewrites the active tab URL to route through NYU's official library proxy (proxy.library.nyu.edu). The extension does not bypass, remove, or weaken any authentication or authorization. You must sign in with your valid NYU credentials on NYU's proxy login page before licensed content becomes available, the same as when you use NYU Library's proxy through a browser bookmark or library website link.

This extension does not unlock content for users without NYU affiliation or valid NYU Library privileges. It does not circumvent paywalls for unauthorized users. It simply saves a manual step for NYU affiliates who are already entitled to access publisher content through NYU Library licenses.

Features:
One-click redirection of the active tab through NYU's library proxy URL prefix, with automatic URL encoding.
Optional settings page to view or adjust the proxy URL prefix (default: NYU Library proxy).
Settings stored locally in your browser via sync storage; no account data is collected by the extension.
On-demand operation only when you click the icon; no background monitoring of browsing activity.

Intended audience: NYU affiliates with active NYU NetID and NYU Library access only.
