JSON Peek is designed with privacy as a core principle. This privacy policy explains how we handle data.
1. Data We Collect: NONE
JSON Peek does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We do not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking. We do not require any account or login.
2. How the Extension Works
- When you visit a web page, the extension reads the page's text content locally to determine if it is valid JSON.
- If valid JSON is detected, the extension formats and displays it as an interactive tree, replacing the raw text in your browser tab.
- All processing happens entirely on your device (in your browser). No data leaves your browser.
- The extension uses the browser's local storage API to remember your theme preference (light/dark). This stays on your device.
3. Permissions Explained
- storage: Saves your theme preference locally on your device.
- Content script on all URLs: Needed to detect JSON content on any page you visit. The script only reads text to check if it's JSON — it does not read or collect any other data.
4. Third-Party Services
We do not use any third-party services. There are no external API calls, no servers, and no data sharing.
5. Data Security
Since no data is ever collected or transmitted, there is no data security risk. Everything stays in your browser.
6. Children's Privacy
This extension is a developer tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our data practices, we will update this policy. Since we collect no data, any changes would be minimal.
